Caro's Library of Educational Psychology
The resources on this page are designed to help you navigate the complexity of the areas of specialism that Caro Strover-Green & Associates work within. Access to the full library will be made available to registered clients in the months to come.
In addition to informative articles and practical advice, Caro and her team recommend the following professional organisations, who may be able to help you navigate your journey.
Dysgraphia : Specific & Significant Difficulty with Handwriting
The term dysgraphia is taken from the Greek word, (dys) meaning “bad” or “difficult” and (graphia) meaning “writing.” Thus, “dygraphia” literally means “bad writing”.
Visual Stress (also know as Irlen Syndrome)
Symptoms of visual stress can include regular headaches, difficulty with tracking, and most of all moving/blurry/fuzzy print, distortions of text/graphs and discomfort when focussing on text after a short while.
Visual Perceptual Abilities for Primary Age Children
Seeing clearly the whole, the parts that make a whole; seeing specific parts without being distracted by other parts, being able to complete a part in the mind’s eye, recalling what you see, being able to see the visual difference between things are all key perceptual skills that influence our interactions with the world and contribute to our learning processes.
Dyslexia
Dyslexia is a ‘hot’ topic which is why you may experience some Local Authorities willing to give a diagnosis if reading and spelling difficulties are formally recognised and considered ‘unexpected’ within the context of the child’s educational experience, whilst other Local Authorities will not give a diagnosis. This is because there is no universally agreed definition.
