Face-to-face assessments for children, young people and adults.
An educational psychology assessment is about understanding the whole individual: how they think and learn, where their strengths lie, what they may be finding difficult and the experiences and environment around them.
We bring together the individual’s own views with information from home, school, college or other professionals to build a fuller picture. Where a particular learning difficulty such as dyslexia or dyscalculia is identified, that can be an important part of understanding their needs, but the assessment is never simply about finding a label. The aim is to identify what will help the individual learn, develop confidence and move forward.

Different assessments answer different questions. Start with the area that most closely reflects what you or your child need help to understand. Educational Psychology & Literacy (Dyslexia) Assessment
A comprehensive assessment for children, young people or adults where there are concerns about reading, spelling, literacy or related areas of learning.
We explore the individual’s learning profile, including areas such as reasoning, memory and processing, alongside literacy skills and attainment. Where appropriate, the assessment can identify dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties and provide individual recommendations.
Assessment fee: £800 + service charge
Educational Psychology & Maths (Dyscalculia) Assessment
A comprehensive assessment where there are persistent difficulties with maths, number understanding or mathematical learning.
We look at the individual’s broader learning profile alongside mathematical skills, number processing and attainment to understand both strengths and areas of difficulty. Where appropriate, the assessment can identify dyscalculia and provide individual recommendations.
Assessment fee: £850 + service charge
EHCP Educational Psychology Assessment
An in-depth educational psychology assessment providing evidence and recommendations to contribute to the Education, Health and Care Plan process.
The assessment considers the individual’s strengths, needs, learning and wider circumstances and provides detailed recommendations to support appropriate educational provision.
Assessment fee: £1,400 + service charge
Appeal & Tribunal Assessment
An educational psychology assessment for families requiring independent evidence to support an appeal or Tribunal process.
The assessment and report are tailored to the questions and educational issues relevant to the individual case.
Assessment fee: £1,550 + service charge
Preparation for and attendance at Tribunal is separate and charged at £120 per hour

Access Arrangements Assessment
A focused assessment relating to access arrangements for examinations and assessments.
Requirements for access arrangements depend on the examination centre and current JCQ regulations. We recommend discussing your needs with us and the school or college SENCo before booking.
Assessment fee: £300 + service charge
Disability Sport Eligibility Assessment or Adult Learning Disability
A specialist psychological assessment to provide evidence relevant to intellectual impairment eligibility for disability sport classification, including para-swimming and para-athletics, or adult learning disability assessment.
S14 is specifically the swimming intellectual impairment classification. Athletics uses T20 for track/jump and F20 for field events.
Assessment fee: £800 + service charge

Executive Skills with ADHD Screener
This explores everyday executive skills such as attention, working memory, organisation, planning, emotional control and managing tasks. It can help identify patterns associated with executive functioning difficulties and includes an ADHD screener where appropriate, contributing to a fuller understanding of how the individual manages learning and everyday demands.
Cost: £175
Self-Image, Anxiety & Resilience
These measures can help us understand more about an individual’s emotional wellbeing, including how they see themselves, experiences of anxiety and the personal strengths and resources they draw upon when facing difficulties. The most appropriate measure is selected according to the individual and the questions being explored.
Cost: £40–£75, depending on the measure chosen
Social Communication with Autism Screener
This explores aspects of social interaction, communication and behaviour that may be associated with autism, alongside informal evaluation and the wider information gathered during the assessment. It is a screening measure rather than a standalone autism diagnosis and can help indicate whether further specialist assessment may be appropriate.
Cost: £80
Visual Perceptual Skills
The Test of Visual Perceptual Skills (TVPS-4) explores how an individual interprets and makes sense of visual information. It can help identify particular visual-perceptual strengths and areas of difficulty which may be relevant to learning and everyday tasks.
Cost: £90
Auditory Perception
The Developmental Test of Auditory Perception (DTAP) explores different aspects of how auditory information is perceived and distinguished. It can provide useful additional information where listening, sound discrimination or the processing of spoken information may be contributing to learning difficulties.

Life Skills: Developmental Profile
Where appropriate, additional measures can be used to explore the practical, social and everyday skills an individual uses to function independently at home, in education and in the wider community. This can help build a fuller picture of strengths, support needs and how these affect day-to-day life.

Sensory Processing
Sensory processing measures explore how an individual responds to and manages sensory information in everyday environments. They can help identify patterns of sensory strengths and difficulties and consider how these may affect participation, attention, learning, behaviour and day-to-day experiences.

Further Maths & Dyscalculia Assessment
If a Literacy & Dyslexia Assessment identifies a need to explore mathematical learning in greater depth, a further assessment can be arranged. This looks more closely at mathematical skills, number understanding and related areas to explore whether dyscalculia or other specific maths difficulties may be present.
Cost: £505 + £105 service charge for the additional visit
Further Literacy & Dyslexia Assessment
If a Maths & Dyscalculia Assessment identifies a need to explore literacy in greater depth, a further assessment can be arranged. This looks more closely at reading, spelling, literacy skills and related processing to explore whether dyslexia or another specific literacy difficulty may be present.

Assessments are carried out face to face by Caro or one of her Assistant Educational Psychologists, who are trained and closely supervised by Caro, who oversees planning, signs off reports and joins the feedback discussion.
FAQs
How do I know which assessment I need?
You do not need to decide this alone. If you are unsure, tell us what you or your child are finding difficult, what you hope to understand and any advice you have already received. We can help you identify the most appropriate assessment.
Is an educational psychology assessment just about getting a diagnosis?
No. Understanding whether a particular learning difficulty is present can be valuable, but an assessment looks much more widely at the individual. We consider strengths, learning, confidence, experiences, views and the environment around them, with the aim of identifying practical ways forward.
Who can you assess?
Caro’s team works across age ranges from young children through school and further education to adult learners.
Do you assess ADHD or autism?
An ADHD and/or autism (ASC) assessment is a medical diagnosis so requires a psychiatrist or clinical psychologist plus psychiatrist, in the case that medication might be considered as appropriate following a formal diagnosis. It should also be a multi disciplinary assessment and an Educational Psychology assessment report will contribute to this. Our assessments will help understand the child’s learning and behaviours around learning, and can include the probability of ADHD or autism if you are at first stages of enquiry and then advise accordingly whilst also contributing to a multi disciplinary assessment if you progress to this more formal ADHD or ASC assessment – often a good first step prior to referring for the health service, based ADHD/ASC assessment.
What happens before the assessment?
We ask for background information to help us understand the individual’s learning, developmental history and the reasons for referral. This is done through questionnaires and requesting relevant previous professional reports.
If you have already completed questionnaires for previous assessments and there are up to date reports as often in the case of an EHCP or Tribunal assessment request, we may not ask for this background information as it will be in all the reports you will send us, but then refer back to you with any queries – this is to avoid you needing to repeat giving the same information that is already on file.
We would also gather information from school, college and other professionals as appropriate.
How long does an assessment take?
Most assessments take the morning, with breaks as appropriate. Some assessments may require additional time depending on the individual’s needs and the areas being explored.
Where will the assessment take place?
Assessments will usually take place within the individual’s school or educational setting where a quiet room can be provided. In some circumstances a home assessment may be appropriate and this can be discussed with the psychologist.
When will I receive the report?
Reports are usually sent within 14 days of the assessment and include the findings, relevant background information and individual recommendations.
What happens after I receive the report?
Feedback is offered via a video call after you have had an opportunity to read the report. We encourage this to be joined up between us, parents, and the school or college, and if appropriate other professionals so that the assessment findings and recommendations can be discussed together.
Are assessments available online?
No. Educational psychology assessments are carried out face to face by a member of the assessment team. The team only carry out consultations online.
Do I need to choose any additional assessments before I book?
No. Additional measures are used where they will help build a clearer picture. We can advise which, if any, are appropriate for the questions being explored.
How much is the service charge and deposit?
A one-off service charge of £105 applies to all assessments. On booking you will be required to make a £300 deposit. If you need to discuss these costs please contact Caro.
